As a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and the University of Hartford, Emily Berthelette, DPT, BS, has practiced since 2011 as a physical therapist. Primarily working with geriatric and adult patients, she has worked in the inpatient setting, subacute rehab facilities, long term care facilities, and well as outpatient clinics.

Since joining JWU originally as the head coach of the club gymnastics team in January of 2022, Berthelette has moved into the role of the Director of Clinical Education in August of 2022. As the DCE in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, she has focused her efforts on securing a wide variety of unique clinical education sites for our DPT students.

Education

  • DPT, Physical Therapy, University of Hartford
  • BS, Kinesiology, University of Rhode Island

My ongoing goal as an educator is to motivate students to be excited about their career path, whatever it may be.

Scholarly Interests

Berthelette鈥檚 research interests include assessing scores on the Functional Movement Screen in NCAA division 3 athletes and the possible association with injury risk is an important component in decreasing the overall risk of injury in athletes. Q&A with Emily

At JWU, education is not confined to the four walls of the classroom. You鈥檙e not going to spend four years with your nose buried in a book, learning theories you may never get a chance to apply 鈥 you鈥檙e going to get out there and apply them, be it through internships, group projects, leadership opportunities, competitions and more.
