Providence men's basketball earned the program's first NCAA ranking earlier this month. Johnson & Wales' men's program is currently ninth in the Northeast Region. The Providence women's program, which is currently tied for first place in the (GNAC), also made the cut and is currently ranked seventh. Johnson & Wales is one of only 4 schools to have both of its women's and men's programs in the rankings. "It's a great accomplishment for our program, but we're trying to approach it as just another step in our journey," JWU head coach Jamie Benton told "Our ultimate goal is to win the GNAC and advance to the NCAA Tournament so this is part of that process. Not only does this speak volumes to the hard work our guys have put in this season but it is also a testament to the former players that helped build the foundation of this program."
The men's program is currently ranked 17th in the latest. After losing their season opener, the Wildcats went on a 21-game winning streak, finally falling to Albertus Magnus on Saturday.
The Wildcats will take their second crack at winning their first GNAC regular season title since 2004 when they travel to Norwich tonight for a 7pm game.
