The Boston Bruins Fan Fest Tour made its stop in Providence on Sunday, August 25, and Wildcat Willie was there to join in the fun. As the official education partner of TD Garden and the Boston Bruins, JWU was excited to have the Bruins just a few blocks away from its Providence Campus at the Alex and Ani Center.

"It’s an exciting collaboration for JWU."

“We’re already lucky enough to have the Providence Bruins nearby, but it’s always exciting to have the Boston Bruins come to town, too,” said Angelo Pitassi ’03 MBA. As a business development specialist at JWU, Pitassi was instrumental in building JWU’s partnership with TD Garden and the Bruins. “It’s an exciting collaboration for JWU, and we were happy to be a part of such a big event that supports our partner.”

Thousands of Bruins fans turned out for Fan Fest to celebrate the team, enjoy some activities and meet players. From the start of the event, a mass of fans crowded the main stage to see players be interviewed.

“Providence is one of the best hockey towns in America!” Jack Edwards exclaimed from the stage. The play-by-play voice of the Bruins was there with his NESN on-air partner, Andy Brickley, to interview several Bruins players, including Chris Wagner and Anders Bjork.

Meanwhile, Wildcat Willie made the rounds to greet fans with high fives, photo ops and to hand out some JWU foam hockey pucks. He also got to reunite with his good friend, Blades the Bruin, which included chest bumps and even a dance battle. (Willie graciously let Blades win.) “Fans seemed to really enjoy seeing Blades and Willie together,” Pitassi said. “It’s a great representation of our partnership with the Bruins. We’re excited for what’s coming up in our collaboration this coming year and beyond.”

The next big event for JWU and the Bruins is the first annual Game Days seminar, which will take place at TD Garden on October 2. This year’s seminar theme is “Eat Well, Play Well,” which will focus on sports nutrition and how healthy eating can impact an athlete’s performance. There are also student internships, education opportunities and so much more to come from this partnership. Stay tuned.
