3/17: Academic Schedule Update
Based on the latest guidance from federal and our states’ governments, university leadership has decided that:
花椒直播 (JWU) today announced that non-culinary lab academic classes will move to online and remote instruction starting Monday, March 16 through Sunday, April 12.
All culinary and equine labs will not be held for two weeks, from March 16 through March 29. During this time, the university will assess the situation and make a decision regarding how to go forward for the remaining weeks in the spring term.
All campuses will remain open during this period as JWU moves to the virtual delivery of academics. All residence halls will remain open; however, students may choose to return home during this time period.
Facilities continue to be cleaned thoroughly with a focus on “high touch surfaces” such as classroom desks, tables, handrails, doorknobs, and elevator buttons. In addition, containers of hand sanitizers have been placed throughout the campus in high traffic areas where hand washing is not available in close proximity.
In response to a disclosure of an individual who exhibited flu-like symptoms, the university today canceled classes at its Downcity Campus in Providence as a precautionary measure. This individual has tested negative for the coronavirus.
Since the university returned from the holiday break in January, JWU senior administration has been monitoring what has now become the global spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.
On February 28, the university announced the cancellation of Spring 2020 programs in China, South Korea and Italy. The university has since canceled all domestic and international travel.
In addition, all university events scheduled to be held on campus with an attendance of 50 or have been canceled for the spring term. All events hosted by the university on behalf of external organizations are also canceled.
Updates on this evolving situation have and will continue to be communicated to the JWU community by email and via the university’s Coronavirus page.
