College is an exciting new adventure, but it can also come with a lot of new adjustments. You might need some help getting used to more challenging coursework, living away from home for the first time or handling the stress of a busy schedule.
Whatever support you might need, we’ve got your back — in and out of the classroom. Here are seven support services that every JWU student should utilize at the Providence Campus.
(SAS) is an office dedicated to your academic wellbeing. They are always available to answer any questions you may have about your academic records, staying on track for graduation and planning your course schedule.
Among the SAS team is your own personal academic advisor, who will be your go-to person for academic advising and counseling. They are with you from the start and will guide you on the best path to your academic goals throughout your time at JWU.
Course planning has never been easier with our Grad Planning System (GPS). The GPS is literally your GPS for arriving at your academic goals (ha ha, see what we did there?). But seriously, this system allows you to track your academic progress, plan your future course schedule and use other interactive tools that can help you determine how to get a desired GPA, how changing your major could impact your graduation date and more. You can use it on your own or connect with your academic planner for additional help. Access it easily in under the Academics tab.
At JWU, you’ve got an entire community rooting for you and a team you can always count on. Every student has a personal My Success Network made up of academic counselors/advisors, faculty, faculty advisors, financial planners and various support staff. You can access this network under Academics > uSucceed in and easily connect with members of your network, plan appointments with them and track your academic progress.
Besides the team and the tools you have to help you achieve academic greatness, you also have a dedicated space to go to for a variety of academic services. The offers peer and professional tutoring, online tutoring, writing laboratories and study skills workshops for topics such as time management, memory and test-taking tips, and stress management.
Learning disabilities, physical challenges, and chronic medical conditions should never stop a student from achieving their academic goals! JWU’s is dedicated to providing assistance with accessibility as well as academic, classroom and housing accommodations and other services for students in need.
We saved the most important one for last — we all know that doing well in the classroom starts with taking good care of yourself. Look after your mind and your body with our . You’ll receive inclusive, confidential professional assistance to support your emotional and physical well-being.
Plus, you can also take advantage of the Bridge for Diversity, Equity & Social Justice, a welcoming space for advancing a campus culture of inclusion, safety and discovery around topics of gender and gender identity, racial justice, spirituality, sexual orientation, cultural differences, and more.
Coming to college can be an adjustment but, at JWU, you’ll have a community behind you to help make your time here some of the best years of your life.
